What is a job requisition
A job requisition is an internal form that justifies the need for hiring and serves as the basis for creating the job posting. The requisition is created when you need to hire one or more people in the company.
Therefore, before creating a job and starting the recruitment process, there is another first step: filling out the job requisition form and receiving internal approvals, if needed.
Usually, team managers create and submit job requisitions by filling in all the necessary information and sending the request. This request is then reviewed and, if applicable, can be approved or rejected.
Once a job requisition is approved, the recruitment process can begin.
How are requisitions different than jobs
Jobs and requisitions are both parts of the recruitment process. However, they have different purposes and formats.
A job:
- Is published on the careers site, on job platforms and on social media.
- Mentions the job requirements, responsibilities and benefits in a way that is accessible and attractive to candidates.
- Is based on an approved requisition.
A requisition:
- Is an internal document of the company, not intended for candidates.
- Is generally created by Hiring Managers and includes details about the desired candidate, the budget or the need for a new hire.
- Is a useful tool for tracking the entire recruitment process. It includes all requirements, notes, files, jobs and assigned candidates. In the requisition panel you can see how many people still need to be hired to fulfill the request.
- Must be both created and approved for a job to be promoted.
Now that you know what job requisitions are, you can start using them :).
